Members' Tips: Last Minute Seasonal Suggestions

eggnog and hollyChristmas comes but once a year... thank goodness! Fortunately, our members have a few tips for ensuring it's Ding-Dong-Merrily rather than Jingle Hell.

Start early
'I'd say start preparing from around the middle of November onwards. What menu to use, what pressies to buy etc. Then go out end Nov/beg. December to do the shopping. Avoid the mad rush and the prices that 'conveniently' increase after you get your bonus. Gather all the help you can with preparing the meal and the cleaning up afterwards as well... I'll take this advice next year!'

What's the story? Morning glory?
We tell the children no getting up at 5.00am. We put a pressie on their bed so if they do wake up extremely early then they have something to keep them entertained til about half sixish.

Pacing yourself
One little tradition we have is that we keep some pressies until after dinner. Otherwise there's a bit of a gap. The kids always moan in the morning 'Why can't we have them straight away' etc. but when dinner's been eaten, and they still have some gifts to look forward to, they agree it's worth the wait.
