Members' Tips: Playing Santa
We track Santa Clause on the following web site
and it's a good way of getting the kids to bed as they can see as he gets
closer and closer to where we live: www.noradsanta.org
Fairies, goblins, and Father Christmas are all
real to me because they bring magic into our lives and without magic and
imagaination it would be so boring. So don't worry about lying, it's a
process we go through and as long as you feel its right you're daughter
will too. There is a fairy who lives in my garden, so when
wishes are made, mummy has to know cos the fairy only talks to mummy,
she's shy of children. I never met a child who was upset about being
lied to when they found out the truth, although some feel annoyed if the
Father Christmas myth is used as a threat to make them behave. In my case,
it was those threats that led me to stop believing in him, because my
sister was very badly behaved (especially when my parents weren't looking)
and Father Christmas never gave her less. All the time she believes, I think you should
let her, they are only young for such a short time, let them be kids for
as long as possible, much more magical. Let them find out for themselves and when they
do you can make it their job to keep it secret from the younger kids.
