7.
Keep pets away from the decorations
You've put up your tree. It's looking great. You pop out the room for
five minutes and return to find something resembling a battle zone. Well,
that's what can happen if you've pets in the home. Keep decorations out
of reach of animals and keep plastic packaging and Styrofoam well away
from your pets.
8.
Have an environmentally friendly Christmas
There are a number of ways you can cut
down on waste. Shop online and save on petrol. If you do go shopping,
try and cut down on the number of trips you make and re-use old plastic
bags. Use recycled cards or e-mail greetings.
9.
Stuck for ideas for presents?
You don't want to send yet more socks and slippers? Why not make a donation
to Dad's favourite charity? Or 'adopt' an animal from an endangered species?
These are gifts that will last the whole year long and you will be doing
something good as well.
10.
Stock up in advance
Don't leave buying food to the last minute. Make sure non-perishables
are bought well in advance. Remember, many supermarkets are now open 24
hours a day so you don't have to spend hours queuing for food.
11.
Avoid seasonal stress
Don't let worrying about Christmas take over your life. Take time out.
Set aside a day just for relaxing and don't do anything remotely Christmassy.
Alternatively, get away from it all (weather permitting) for a day out
in the countryside.
