Families ask grandparents to come on their holidays

Sixty-per-cent of families are bringing something extra with them on holiday this year - their own parents. A survey carried out by the Cruise company Ocean Village found that two thirds of families were planning on holidaying with grandparents this year. A further one in five will holiday with friends in an attempt to keep the kids happy and share childminding.

The survey also found that a third of families experience the 'grass is greener' feeling over their friends' holidays believing that other people always have more interesting holidays than they do.

Happily the survey did come up with a couple of positive points - almost half of the children surveyed said their family became closer as a result of going on holiday together. The same number of parents discover something new about their children on holiday.
