Daughter Finds Long-Lost Dad
24 January 2008

Woman discovers her boss is her father

father and daughterA Vietnamese woman who travelled to Taiwan to find the father she never knew, ended up working for him for seven months without knowing. Tran Thi Kham's only link with her long-lost father was a photograph and ring he had given her mother. Tran's mother had been forced to return home when pregnant for family reasons and died when Tran was just two months old.

At the age of 40, Tran travelled to Taiwan, hoping to find her father. While she searched she took on a job caring for the wife of an elderly man to pay the bills. It wasn't until she moved jobs and left the photo and ring at his house that the connection came to light. He had taken one look at the ring and instantly recognised it as the one he'd given his girlfriend all those years ago.

Tran's father, Tsai Han-chao, told his local television news station: 'Life's ups and downs are just like television drama. How could I have ever dreamed that she is my daughter? I can't stop crying when we were finally united.'
