Dads And The Wii Syndrome
23 January 2008

Back doctor spots competitive dad syndrome

nintendo wiiIf the person more likely to be found in front of your Nintendo Wii is Dad, he should have a care not to come down with competitive dad syndrome. This little-known condition has been identified by a osteopath in Cheshire.

Martin Davies saw 20 new patients in the weeks following Christmas – all of them dads who'd put their backs out with Wii Strain.

In the first fortnight after Christmas I saw 20 parents, predominantly with neck and shoulder strains,' the practioner told The Daily Mail. 'Over Christmas it's natural for parents to spend lots of time with their children, but some are spending hours and hours playing tennis and boxing. Parents, as much as the youngsters, have to learn to follow the guidelines.'

His advice to over-competitive parents who are prone to hogging the Wii is to warm up beforehand.
