Nannies Salaries Soar 23 January 2008 Annual earnings rise above £30k for first time
The survey, by Nannytax, found that a live-out nanny in central London can now command an average of £33,179 a year – dropping to £24,545 for live-in positions. Outside London, nannies in urban households earn on average £22,263 a year. In the countryside, things are slightly less onerous - live-in nannies are paid £17,797 and daily nannies £21,937. 'It has become clear to us over the past few years that parents’ attitude towards their child care has changed and they are now demanding fully qualified professionals to look after their children,' said Andrew Myers from Nannytax. 'Because of this demand we are now seeing a much higher calibre of nannies that have had specialist training and experience ranging from behavioural management through to caring for children with disabilities.'
