You know you're worth it!

It's certainly an alternative to saying you're a stay-at-home mum; the next time anyone asks what you do - you can say you're a full-time professional with a job worth £30k. Researchers have been hard at work totting up all the jobs that housewives do and have found that if families were paying professionals to do all that work it would cost £30,000.

The study of 4000 housewives found that the average stay-at-home mum spend 4.55 hours every day looking after their kids, 71 minutes cleaning the house, 63 minutes in the kitchen, 39 minutes running the family finances, 28 minutes washing up, 23 minutes in the car and 18 minutes shopping.

Unsurprisingly, two-thirds of the mums polled felt that their hard work often went both unrewarded and unnoticed.
