Boris Tackles Bad Teens 7 May 2008
The kids aren't all right, says mayor
New London Mayor Boris Johnson says that adults ought to feel confident in disciplining their own
and other children. Announcing plans to set up a series of weekend camps for teenagers in trouble,
the Mayor said: 'Someone needs to sound a word of caution about the expansion of children’s rights,
because there are now many London parents who worry that they are statutorily forbidden from
offering any kind of discipline at all. That someone should be the mayor.'
The Saturday courses being set up will address youths who have problems with 'competition,
discipline and punishment'.
