Are Wi-Fi Networks Safe For Schools? May 21 2007 Research suggests they're more dangerous than mobile phone masts
The programme measured radiation emissions from a wi-fi enabled laptop in a classroom and and found that the radiation was three times higher than that of a standard mobile phone mast. Philip Parkin, general secretary of the Professional Association of Teachers told the BBC: 'I think schools and parents will be very worried about it... I am asking schools to consider very seriously whether they should be installing Wi-Fi networks now and this will make them think twice or three times before they do it.' The government, supported by the World Health Organisation maintains there are no health risks associated with long-term exposure to such low-level radiation. |
