Three quarters of kids help out with household chores

child helping mum with washing upChildren often get a bad press, but a new report out is adamant they don't deserve it. Far from being the typecast generation that lolls about, being waited on hand and foot, a massive 75% of children help out with household chores several times a week. Almost half apparently do their bit around the house every day.

The findings of the 'Hotpoint's Little Helpers' survey show the kind of household chores that are most and least likely to be undertaken by kids. Top of the list is putting toys away, with 92% of mums saying their children cleared up their toys – but the least popular task is cleaning the bathroom – just 8% of children help out with this.

The most helpful kids in the land apparently live in Northern Ireland – children there help out with most chores including, cooking, loading the dishwasher, dusting and vacuuming. London kids do the least in Britain, coming bottom of the league table.

How much do your children help out around the house? Talk about this story in our Talk! section here.
