Summer Holidays cost £741 July 10 2007
Parents spend a fortune on entertaining their kids over the holidays
The release of figures showing just how much parents are going to have to fork out for their children over the summer holidays is becoming as well established as rain during Wimbledon fortnight. For those of you who haven’t been saving like a demon – look away now – because the latest figures in from Abbey show that families expect to spend an average of £741 keeping their kids occupied over the holidays.
Apparently £741 if anything is a conservative amount as parents admit to going over their budget by around 40% each year.
Happily Abbey has also come up with some cunning ways of keeping kids happy for free, which are as follows:
A museum visit
Kite flying
Driveaway art using chalk
Cookery lessons
Making bubbles with washing up liquid
