Kids Choose Lunchbox Contents September 3 2007 Parents adrift over what makes a healthy lunchbox
More than a third said that they find leftovers in the lunchbox when their kids come home. The most popular items to discard are fresh fruit (28%) and sandwiches (26%). Interestingly 73% of the parents surveyed said they'd welcome the introduction of a one-stop shop that would help them make healthy, informed choices about what to put into their lunchbox, which inspired the FDF to revamp its healthylunchbox.co.uk website to give parents tips. Raisingkids' founder, Dr Pat Spungin, said: 'Parents are faced with huge amounts of information about food in schools, so it’s hardly surprising some of them are confused as to what they should be doing when it comes to the content of their child’s lunch box.' |
