'I feel so blessed' she tells Oprah

Goodness, you have to hand it to the Americans, they really know how to gush! In an interview with Oprah to be broadcast this week, Oscar-winner Julia Roberts babbled on about motherhood in such a way as to make any British parent feel slightly queasy.

When Oprah asked her whether motherhood has changed her at all, Julia replied; 'I definitely feel that I've expanded as a human being. I have more empathy and more compassion, I think, because I feel so blessed on a level that I can't even wrap my mind around really.

'I just love them' she said of her twins Hazel and Phinnaeus. 'They're fun and happy and honest and just fill me with so much joy. I guess I didn't realize that you could really just like your children as much as your friends, you know? I just enjoy interacting with them. I'm interested in their point of view.'

Special praise was reserved for her husband Danny. 'I just love him to bits,' trilled Julia. 'He's just a great human being,' she said. 'And to see him now as a father - that is the greatest thrill of my life, is watching him be a father to my children. He is our rock, our heart centre of our family.'
