Make A Baby For £10k
January 25 2006

Spoof reality conception show attracts 200 hopefuls

couple kissing A spoof reality TV show, which purported to offer fame wannabes the chance to conceive a baby with a stranger live on TV, attracted hundreds of entries. More than two hundred people queued up for the chance to take part in a show where the 'climax' would be a race between two couples to conceive.

The show, which was the brainchild of BBC3's Mischief series, wanted to find out how far people would be prepared to go to appear on TV. Both the shows presenters ex-Big Brother stars Makosi Musambasi and Craig Coates, were taken in by the joke.

The show's premise was that contestants would enter a 'love hotel' with the least attractive being voted out each week. The last two couples would then race to see who could conceive first and win the £10,000 prize.

Makosi said: 'They are playing for the ultimate prize - life itself. There has never been a show like this.' And never contestants like it, either. As one male volunteer admitted, 'It will be a real challenge for me - I'm gay'.
