CSA faces the chop from government

csa building blocksFollowing years of bad press, misery from the parents who relied on it for child support payments and those who felt unjustly pursued, the CSA faces the chop today. The Works and Pensions Secretary John Hutton will announce a new initiative today which aims to focus on the absent parents who don't pay up.

Parents will be encouraged to sort out their own arrangements under a fresh new scheme – with only the most recalcitrant parents being chased by a new agency. The new agency is expected to come down hard on non-payers, with ideas such as public embarrassment of parents who don't support their children. It's also expected that another agency will be set up to clear the backlog of the old CSA.
