An eight month old baby in Newcastle has died after catching chickenpox. Faye Grace caught the infection from her older brothers after the illness went through their school. At first, doctors weren't worried, but when the infant's right leg swelled up and turned purple she was rushed into intensive care. But the baby had developed septicaemia and died in hospital just days later.

Faye's mother Hayley told The Sun; ' When she went into hospital I never expected I wouldn’t be bringing her home. 'The doctors said Faye’s was a one in a million case. It hasn’t sunk in yet.'

An autopsy revealed that the child died of kidney failure. Faye's uncle Ian said; ' People need to be aware, chickenpox can kill.'
