Sick Kid's Parking Ticket Joke August 22 2006 Toddler's mum gets off with a caution – and a smile
Laurie Ward was late back to her car when her 21-month-old daughter threw up when they were out and about. When she came back to find a parking ticket, she appealed and won on the grounds that her child was the reason for her delay in returning for her vehicle. Evidently parking chiefs had a sense of humour as they sent the mother a note letting her off the fine and adding; 'Please make sure your daughter only vomits within pay and display time.' However Laurie didn't see the funny side of it and has since complained to Brighton council about the letter, telling the Mirror; ' This is not the way I expect to be treated by a public body.' The council apologised for any offence it may have caused.
