Baby's Flight Ban
August 22 2006

10-month-old taken off flight for being spotty

aircraftThe parents of a 10 month old baby, who was turfed off an airplane in Tenerife, was forced to leave their child in the holiday resort with their grandparents and return home without him. Chris and Caroline Snaith had to return to Britain for a job interview – so when the captain of their plane said young Layton couldn't board because a spot he was sporting might be chickenpox – they had to go on ahead alone.

Layton, who had a spot on his head, didn't have a doctor's certificate to say that he wasn't suffering from chickenpox. Subsequently, the pilot of the My Travel plane, said that due to the risk that he might be infectious he couldn't board the plane. Layton's grandparents were forced to stay behind, take their grandson to a local doctor and pay £130 for a certificate stating that the poor child was just spotty!

'She sobbed her eyes out on the plane, she was so upset, ' said Layton's Gran about the effect of the ban on her daughter-in-law. 'She felt so guilty about leaving her baby behind.'
