Hit And Run Travesty February 22 2006
Three year old's death merits just 12 weeks in jail
The parents of a three year old girl who was killed by a hit and run driver have criticised the
courts for giving the driver just 12 weeks in jail. Levi Bleasdale was hit whilst crossing the road
in Burnley with her mother and died the following day in hospital. Her killer, Mohammed Aqueel
Hussain, hadn't passed his driving test and had no insurance and ran away from the scene of
the accident. He later gave himself up.
Grandfather Michael Ryan said: 'We're all devastated The sentence is appalling. Even a thief
gets longer than that.'
