...according to children, that is!

Vindication for men this morning with the news that Dads really are cleverer than Mums. A survey of 500 children by sweet company Bassett found that one in four children felt that their fathers were the cleverest person in the world. Mums trailed behind with one in five children according their mothers the same degree of cleverness!

But before Dads get all excited about the results, it's also worth pointing out that one in six children also thought David Beckham was an egg head, while one in seven kids said their best friend was the cleverest person they knew.

'It's very interesting to see what children deem as "clever",' said Psychologist Dr Glenn Wilson from Kings College, London who analysed the survey. 'Dads have been picked, perhaps because they are perceived as 'instrumental', in terms of getting things done, and mums are 'expressive', in terms of providing emotional support.'
