The policewoman shot dead by armed robbers in Bradford last week was killed on her daughter's fourth birthday. Sharon Beshenivsky, 38, a mother of three children and two stepchildren was killed when she was called to respond to an incident at a travel agent's.

Sharon's husband Paul told reporters that he knew something was wrong when his wife was late for their daughter's fourth birthday party. 'She waited excitedly for her mum to come home. When Sharon was late I knew something was wrong. It breaks my heart to think that I will never hear her infectious laugh again, to think she won't be here to see our children grow.'
