Frenzied online shopping in the run-up to Christmas, and problems with supply mean that parents will be struggling to put the right presents under the tree this year. A survey of high street stores and online shops has found a whole host of popular presents that are either in short supply or completely unobtainable before Christmas.

Top of the hard to find list is the Xbox 360 games console, Dr Who Dalek robots and black iPod Nano machines. Online stores such as Amazon and the auctioneers Ebay are both reporting massive online sales in the run up to Christmas Day - but pity the parents who haven't secured the presents their children are hoping for!
