15-year-old delivers baby at her school

A 15-year-old has given birth in front of teachers and classmates at her catholic school in Yorkshire. The teenager is understood not to have known that she was pregnant. She went into labour just after school had started on Friday and by the time paramedics arrived the labour had progressed too far to move her to hospital.

John Grady, spokesman for the Catholic Diocese of Leeds, told the press: 'Every help is being given to the mother and child and to the immediate family of those concerned. At this time we hope that everyone will give all of them time to adjust to the new circumstances and allow space for them to make plans for the future.'
