Dogs Are A Child's Best Bet December 18 2006 Reading aloud to dogs can boost children's reading skills
'“The animals are not judgmental. If a child mispronounces a word, they are not going to laugh at them or make fun of them like other children might,' said Kathy Klotz, executive director of Intermountain Therapy Animals, a charity based in Utah. The charity's 'reading education assistance dogs' or Read for short, work with over 500 children in schools across America and Canada. Apparently the charity has just had one of its volunteers move to Cornwall to start up a scheme, so expect Reading With Fido to turn up at a school near you next year! . . . . . . . . . . . . . |
