The mother of a toddler who was hanged after a freak accident whilst sharing her bed, warned other parents not to let the same thing happen to them. Donna Dawson, who had shared her bed with son Liam since birth, woke up one morning to find the eight month old hanging dead from the bed. The baby had fallen feet first through the gap between the headboard and mattress and had ended up hanging himself.

'You never expect something like this to happen,' she told The Mirror after a coroner recorded a verdict of accidental death. 'I want to warn other parents to stop them going through this agony. People should never let their children sleep in their beds. People think the dangers are from rolling over on your children but other scarier things can happen.'
