The Commons Touch February 14 2006 Tory MPs spark off baby boom in The Commons
For most people the after-effects of an election campaign are general apathy and a virulent opposition to party political broadcasts. But for four Conservative MPs last year's election campaign coincided with the conception of a new baby. All four politicians, the Telegraph reports, are expecting new babies within a month of each other - meaning all four had wives who conceived during last summer's general election. Adam Afriyie, who was elected MP for Windsor back in May, welcomed a new son Alfred to the world on January 30th. Next to pop open the champagne was Greg Hands, first-term MP for Hammersmith and Fulham whose wife, Irina, gave birth on Sunday to their first child, Helena. Number three in the group is Monmouth MP David Davies, whose wife Aliz, is expecting their second child today. And last, but by no means least is David Cameron whose wife, Samantha, gave birth today to a bouncing baby boy!
