Mums choose old-fashioned games for Christmas

toysGiven the opportunity mums would prefer kids to play with more traditional toys this Christmas. When vitamin company Haliborange asked their panel of mums to choose their favourite festive toys – the results were unanimous. Batteries were definitely not included as the parents went for more traditional fun instead.

'Often it doesn’t matter what the game or toy is, simply spending time with your children and giving them dedicated attention can do wonders for their concentration,' said Dr Amanda Kirby, Dyscovery Centre, University of Wales, Newport explains. 'Simple games such as Pick Up Stix can teach your child a huge amount about patience, turn taking and winning and losing.'

The games were picked according to age ranges and were as follows:

Age group 4-6

1. Guess Who
2. Buggy Bingo
3. Splash Attack

Age group 7-10

1. Mastermind Brain Twister
2. Pick up Stix
3. Buckaroo

Age group 11+

1. Pavilion Wooden labyrinth
2. Rapidough
3. Tetris Towers
