Sex During Pregnancy

expectant coupleIt may be the last thing on your mind, or something you can't get enough of - a woman's body is a strange mass of contradictions during pregnancy!

In The Mood
Many women (and men!) will notice that a pregnant woman's libido can experience a surge, especially around the second trimester. Again, it is all down to the increased hormones in circulation. It’s also down to the increased blood-flow to the pelvic region which increases your sensitivity to touch and leads, therefore, to heightened arousal.

Good Vibrations
Unless the doctor advices you otherwise, there is nothing harmful about sex during pregnancy. Your uterus is tightly sealed, and the baby is cushioned and protected in its amniotic sac. The endorphins (the natural chemicals which make you feel good), released when you climax can cross the placenta, so there is something in it for baby, too!

The Right Position
There's no right way or wrong way to have sex when you're pregnant. Just make sure you don’t squash your bump. Simply experiment with other positions like rear entry or side by side.
