Am I Entitled? You are entitled to Child Benefit if you are bringing up a child who is:
aged under 16
under 19 and studying in full-time non-higher education
16 or 17 years old and has recently left school and registered for work or training with the Careers or Connexions Service or similar.
How Much Will I Get?
You will get £17.00 a week for the eldest child and £11.40 a week for each additional child. (It's paid every four weeks in most circumstances) and can be can be paid into your bank, building society, Post Office or National Savings account that accepts Direct Payment.
How do I apply for it?
You will need to fill in a claim form and submit the child's birth or adoption certificate. Most parents get a claim form in their 'Bounty Pack' at the hospital. Alternatively, you can complete a form online here.
