Section Menu: Shopping :: Household :: General :: Food :: Clothing

children showing off new clothesFamily clothing bills can be huge, particularly when you think how quickly kids grow out of things. Our members offers some clever money saving tips for children's clothes.

1. Plan ahead. Be prepared when it comes to the sales – if summer clothes are on sale, work out what size your child will need the next time summer comes and buy that.

2. Cutting edge. If your child goes through their trousers at the knees, cut the bottoms off and hem them and – voila – new shorts!

3. Discount stores. Look around for outlet Clarks store nearby – the fitters are properly trained but children's shoes cost usually half of their high street stores.

4. Dressing up. Keep an eye out for potential costumes at school fairs – the second hand clothes stalls are often a good place to stock up on clothes for school plays and fancy dress parties.
