What mums really want for Valentine's Day

couple sharing valentines giftHaving read a thread in our forums entitled 'Grrr, men!', RK reader Daedalus2002 was prompted to ask the question, 'What do women really want for Valentine's Day?' in the hope of coming up with something his wife would genuinely like.
Unsurprisingly, our readers weren't reticent about coming up with a few suggestions...!

How about a voucher which gives her a free evening or a lie-in one weekend morning where you take care of the children which she can 'cash in' when she wants? That always goes down very well.

I'd like the men in this house to aim for the toilet bowl instead of around it, up it, at the back of it and anywhere but it, my husband to clean his shavings out of the basin, to taste the food he is cooking instead of hoping for the best and to learn where the washing basket is. Failing any or all of the above then there's nothing some really nice jewellery won't cure...

A weekend in Rome or Paris or a meal out is the biz, but with the babysitting ALREADY arranged.

Cook her favourite meal, give her chocs, flowers, a romantic piece of jewellery, and DON'T forget to follow that up with some great sex!

Most romantic present I ever got from hubby was for Christmas last year when he made me a CD of all the songs that reminded him of me. I am pleased to say that Britney Spear's 'Toxic' and Catatonia's 'Ballad of Tom Jones' were not on it.

A walk with the dog and a bag of Minstrels would do me to be honest. As long as he was looking at me and listening, and didn't break off to do something else I'd be happy.

What would I like this year? A babysitter, so my husband and I can don our walking boots and go and climb a mountain somewhere. That would be bliss.

My husband works away Mon to Fri, so for him to be in the country on the 14th would be nice.

I'd love some Agent Provocateur underwear (something he'd like to see me in). But he has never bought me underwear and I don't think he is about to begin now!

and finally...our favourite story of the lot!

'My husband always gets me a ring or a DVD I have been after. Even when he is skint, he squirrels wee bits of money away like the time he walked to work for 4 weeks or he didn't eat lunch.'
