Father's Day: Presents The Kids Can Make
If you think Father's Day has become far too commercial and are looking for a different way to celebrate Father's Day this year, why not try one of our ideas the kids can make, which won't cost you a penny! After all, don't they say, it's the thought that counts?!
Handmade...with love and glue
There's nothing more guaranteed to please a dad than a handmade card which their child has made especially for them. After all, how can a Hallmark card compete with crepe paper, glue and glitter? Give your kids full reign in the creative department - you might want to help them make an envelope - and then they can deliver it themselves on Father's Day morning.
Breakfast is served
When all's said and done, the most desirable gift for any parent is usually more sleep! Give your partner a lie-in and then help the children put together a breakfast-in-bed tray for dad. If you want to push the boat out - you can include a Bloody Mary or Bucks Fizz and make it extra-special.
Promises, Promises
Put together a booklet of vouchers which dad can 'cash' in whenever he wants. Ideas could include a 'washing the car' voucher, or a promise to 'be nice to my brother all day' voucher. Bring all the promises together with a colourful cover, and draw a dotted line on each one for tearing them off.
Candid Camera
If you have, or can borrow, a camcorder, how about putting together a dedication tape for dad? Get the kids involved in front of, and behind, the camera depending on their age, and put together a selection of clips where your kids say what it is they love about their dad. Absolutely guaranteed to leave him with a smile on his face and a tear in his eye.
Edible Ideas
It's a rare father who'll pass on a slice of cake or a home-baked cookie, so get out the mixing bowl and rope your children in to making dad a special Father's Day treat. Let the kids decorate the cake themselves, or alternatively make up a batch of biscuits and have the children create a special box or bag to present them in.
