Discussions: Livening Up Your Posts

How do I use different fonts and text colours?

With our new discussion software, you can really brighten up your posts. The easiest way to liven up your messages is by using the font options - you can have bold, italic or underlined text in whatever colour you like.

Just highlight the text and click on the buttons, like you do in Word. You can also cut, copy and paste, and so on. Why not experiment until you get the look you like?

Can I add pictures?
If you'd like to add a picture, that picture needs to be on the internet first, so make sure you know the URL of the image (it could be on your own personal website, like Geocities, or elsewhere). You need the URL of the image, not just the address of the page it is on.

Then, just click on this button and enter the web address (URL) of the image:

Please remember that if you post a picture, you're personally responsible for making sure it doesn't break copyright laws. So don't scan in the Coca-cola logo or anything like that, eh?

Using 'smilies'
Last and not least - the emoticons/smilies better known to raisingkids.co.uk as 'those little faces in the messages' are back, they're easier to insert into posts, and they're better than before! Check 'em out...

To insert an emoticon, just click this button:

Then click on whichever emoticon you'd like to add to your post:

How do I add links to other web pages?
You can link to other pages and sites by pasting the URL into your message.

Alternatively, click on this button to add a hyperlink:
