scary spiderweb cupcakesGive the kids a ghoulish treat this Halloween with some of these quick and easy recipes from the Betty Crocker website.

Scary Spiderweb Cupcakes

You will need:
1 pack Betty Crocker Devil's Food Cake Mix
300 ml/10 fl oz water
75 ml/2½ fl oz vegetable oil
3 eggs
Orange food colouring
1 tub Betty Crocker Vanilla Premium Icing
1 tube cake icing
Blackcurrant fruit pastilles

Directions:
Preheat oven to 180°C/Gas Mark 4.
Place paper cake cases in each of 24 regular muffin tins, or grease bottom only of cups.
Beat cake mix, water, oil and eggs in large bowl on low speed for 1 minute, scraping bowl constantly (do not over beat); or stir 2 minutes by hand. Fill paper baking cases two thirds full of batter.
Bake for 18 to 25 minutes or until a cocktail stick inserted in the centre comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes in pan. Remove to wire rack and cool completely.
Make orange icing by stirring a few drops of food colouring into icing; spread on cupcakes.
Squeeze circles of decorating icing on to each cupcake; pull knife from centre outwards to make web. Use two pastilles for each cupcake to make spider - roll out 1 pastille and cut 8 strips for legs. Keep second to form body. Place spider on cupcakes. Store loosely covered.

Jack O'Lantern Cake

jack o'lantern cakeYou will need:

1 pack Betty Crocker Devil's Food or Carrot Cake Mix
250 ml/9 fl oz water
70 ml/2½ fl oz vegetable oil
3 eggs (medium)
1 tub Betty Crocker Vanilla Premium Icing
Orange food colouring (or red and yellow colours mixed)
Liquorice Allsorts sweets for decoration

Directions:
Heat oven to 160°C/Gas Mark 3.
Grease and flour two 2-pint heat-proof basins. Prepare cake mix as directed on the pack, using water, oil and eggs. Pour batter into basins. Bake for about 75 minutes or until a cocktail stick inserted in the centre comes out clean. Cool for 15 minutes. Remove cakes from basins: place rounded side up on cooling rack. Cool completely.

Empty icing into medium bowl; beat in food colouring to make orange icing. Place one cake, rounded side down, on plate. Spread with icing around side. Place second cake, rounded side up, on iced cake to make round shape. Spread over remaining icing.

Decorate with sweets to make face and stem.

Halloween Cheese Pizza

Halloween Cheese Pizza8oz Original Bisquick mix
30 ml very hot water
120 ml pizza sauce
8oz grated mozzarella cheese
1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
5 slices (3/4 oz) processed cheese
Move oven rack to lowest position. Heat oven to 230°C. Grease 12-inch pizza pan.
Mix Bisquick and very hot water until soft dough forms. Press dough in pizza pan, using fingers dipped in Bisquick; pinch edge to form 1/2-inch rim.
Bake for 10 minutes. Spread pizza sauce over crust. Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese and Italian seasoning.

Bake for a further five to seven minutes or until crust is golden brown and cheese is bubbly. Cut cheese with cookie cutters in Halloween shapes. Place cheese shapes on pizza just before serving.
