Teatime

splatcooking.comChildren love helping their parents out in the kitchen.

It's a fun way to spend a rainy afternoon - and you get to eat the results! Here's a few of Raisingkids.co.uk's members favourite teatime treats to cook with their children.

Chocolate Pears

Make some green jelly. Get a pear. Peel it and cut it long ways in half. Melt some chocolate. Cover the pear in chocolate. Let it set. Mush up the green jelly with a fork and put on a plate. Put the chocolate pear on top of the jelly. It should now look like a chocolate mouse. Put some chocolate buttons on it to make ears. You can make a tail with liquorice if feeling wild and crazy. And hey presto - a mouse sat on the grass! Samc100

Fairy Cakes

4oz self-raising flour, 4oz softened butter, 4 oz caster sugar and 2 eggs. Cream the butter and sugar together. Whisk in the eggs and then fold together with the flour. Add a tsp of vanilla essence and about one tsp of baking powder to the mix. Cook in an oven for about 15 minutes at 190C/375F/Gas mark 5. Makes 12. My daughter loves these cakes - especially licking the bowl! Kittykitty

Cornflake Tart

Take one pre-cooked pastry base, mix loads of cornflakes in golden syrup... slap shedloads of jam in the base then bung the whole load of cornflakes inside and refrigerate. MumtoNoah

French Bread Pizza

Get a French stick, some salsa, grated Cheese. Then choose Ham/Peppers/Tomato/Tuna/whatever you fancy as a topping. Put it all on and bung under grill. Et voila! Ursula
