Raisingkids' Guest Expert: Felicity Collier
Felicity qualified in social work in 1978, and has worked in Social Services and the Probation Service as a child care social worker, divorce court welfare officer, children's guardian, and before joining BAAF, Assistant Chief Probation Officer in Oxfordshire. Felicity is deeply concerned about the poor future many children in care face when they do not have a secure and loving family, a family who are there for them, not just during their childhood but for the rest of their lives. Felicity has written and spoken widely on adoption and childcare issues and is a recognised leading authority in the field. Felicity gave evidence for BAAF to the Special Standing Committee on the Adoption and Children Bill and is a member of the President's Adoption Committee. BAAF Adoption and Fostering is the leading UK-wide membership organisation for all those concerned with adoption, fostering and children who are separated from their birth families - BAAF also provides information and advice to the general public, publishes book and guides for adopters, foster carers and children and publishes a monthly newspaper, Be My Parent which includes photos and information about hundreds of children needing new families.
