Dental Expert: Brushing Their Own Teeth
It's a common question - when should you step in to help your children wash their teeth and at what point should they be able to do it themselves? Raisingkids.co.uk's Dental Expert, Amanda O'Donnell looks at the evidence.
Raisingkids member's problem
I was just wondering at what age you think a child should be able to brush their own teeth, without supervision?
Dental expert's advice
I would assist in brushing up to the age of eight, and then always check their teeth after brushing from eight years upwards. Letting children brush first and then you having a go after is a good way to let them have some independence.
