Raisingkids' Midwife: Genevieve Kingston

midwifeGenevieve first trained as a nurse and qualified as a registered general nurse in 1992. She trained at Leeds General Infirmary and qualified as a Registered Midwife in 1995. She has taken post qualification courses in miscarriage and grief, child protection, domestic violence and smoking cessation.

Over the course of her career, Genevieve has worked in Antenatal clinics, Antenatal wards, Delivery Suites, Post Natal wards and Day Care and ran Parentcraft classes. Leeds General is the regional Neo Natal unit and high risk pregnancies are sent there.

The mother of four young children she is pro-breastfeeding but also a supporter of informed choice. She has delivered babies in numerous positions as well as attending home births as a student. She herself has had a waterbirth, an induced birth , a home deliveryand a transferred to hospital from home birth. Genevieve believes that every woman is different, and as such has different needs whilst pregnant, labouring and post natally. She believes that all women should have enough information to make the best choices for them, their unborn baby and their family.
