Online Midwife: Morning sickness has stopped

worried woman Just eight weeks pregnant and all the symptoms of pregnancy, including morning sickness have gone away. Should this be something to worry about?

Raisingkids member's problem
I am nearly eight weeks pregnant. I had an early scan at six weeks and all was well, a heart beat and healthy. Immediately after that I started getting morning sickness, every day but in the last two days this has totally stopped. I wonder whether this is normal (it is my first pregnancy) or whether it is always an indication of a problem. Also can I insist on a scan or will I have to wait until it is due at 13 weeks or so even if I show no symptoms? I have had no bleeding or anything like that.

Midwife Genevieve Kingston's Advice
Some women don't suffer from morning sickness at all. Some women find this symptom lessens really quite early. Unless you have had pain and/or bleeding, I wouldn't say that by itself it is something to be worried about.

If you had other pregnancy symptoms and they have disappeared as well it may be worth your while asking to see your GP.
