Braxton Hicks pains can be difficult to recognise, particularly when it's your first pregnancy. Our midwife looks at the evidence.
Raisingkids member's problem I'm 27 weeks pregnant. Yesterday and this morning I have been experiencing sharp pains across my abdomen. At first I thought these could be Braxton Hicks but they were very painful and actually brought tears to my eyes a couple of times and I have heard that Braxton Hicks are only meant to be mild.
Midwife Genevieve Kingston's Advice If the pains you are experiencing are regular in nature, I hope you have contacted the delivery suite. If they are irregular and no set pattern then I suggess you contact your GP as you may have a urine infection. Braxton Hicks, whilst not painful like contractions, can be extremely unpleasant.
