My son has lots of dark freckles on his face. Is that normal?
Dr
Krafchik's advice
Freckles are normally the result of sun exposure. They're more common
in the summer months and tend to fade in the winter. If your son's fair-skinned,
and has had lots of exposure the freckles could be quite marked. On the
other hand, there are many other conditions that cause dark marks on the
body such as moles and mole-like lentigines.
It's important to know what these lesions are before advising you whether
they're normal. This is something to be diagnosed face-to-face. Ask your
GP to refer you to a dermatologist.
