Development 13-15 Yrs: Expanding Minds

Image Congratulations - you've survived to the teens! You may want to think back to all the challenges you've already got through together as you meet the new demands of the teenage years.

It's just a phase...
Remember that stroppy adolescence is a temporary stage too! No matter how prepared you think you are, there will be challenges - but they probably won't be insurmountable.

With a sense of humour and lots of patience, you'll both come out the other side and be able to look back and laugh at the times you've shared.

'Yeah, right!'
When you become irritated by your teenager's constant sarcasm and supposed witticisms, try to remember that she is just testing her new, sophisticated mental abilities. She may also develop an interest in satire and other slightly off-beat forms of humour, which you mightn't share. Her logical thinking ability is also maturing and she may enjoy debating, either formally or informally, practicing her new intellectual and verbal skills.
