Ask Our Members About... Parents & Sleep

sleepoverLiving with a child who won't sleep can be an exhausting experience. It's important for parents to get as much rest as possible, but how on earth can you do it? See what our members suggest...

Weekend lie-in
'I manage to persuade my 18mth old to have maybe half an hour extra in bed at the week end by: a) delaying bed time by half an hour or so and playing frantically till then, and b) if she wakes up at the crack of dawn, get her into bed with us along with her favourite teddy and blanket. She'll usually decide that snuggles with Mummy and Daddy are better than playing at that time of the morning and get some more Z's'

Take a power nap
'One way to cope is to rest in the day, when he sleeps, catch a nap yourself, the more tired you are, the worse you'll feel. Do you have any family nearby? If so ask for help. Hopefully, he will settle back down.'

Got a better suggestion?
If you've found a good way to stave off exhaustion despite broken nights, we'd love you to share it!
