Development
7-9 Mths: Growing Fast
It's time to introduce stair guards and other safety measures as your
baby develops wide-ranging movement.
His
increasing mobility around the floor is combined with good arm and hand
control - he can reach and grab with some accuracy. Move all breakable
or potentially harmful items well out of his reach, including small items
that could end up in his mouth and pose a choking hazard.
Watch
out - baby's on the move!
Your baby starts to sit unaided. He also discovers ways to move across
the floor. Many babies progress from rocking on their tummies to hand
and knee rocking and finally crawling. Others decide to do it their way
and shuffle on their bottoms or on their backs. Be alert as baby reaches
9 months - some babies bypass crawling and pull themselves up to a standing
position, by holding onto furniture.
Hands-on experience
Your baby is developing good hand control
and can pick up very small items with his finger and thumb. He passes
objects from hand to hand, claps hands and pokes his finger into holes.
He can eat finger foods by himself and may be able to hold his cup.
