Development 2-3 Mths: Look & Learn

IMAGE: Now your baby looks around and listens to the world about her. From passively accepting your care, your baby is changing into a responsive little person, who will reward your attention with smiles and excitement.

As she nears 3 months, she loves being talked to and may begin to 'perform' in return for praise. Now your baby looks around and listens to the world about her, so change her position and give her different things to look at.

At first she liked to look at people but more and more she takes an interest in objects, like rattles and soft toys. Give her a toy she likes, and she's able to play by herself for short periods.

I know what's coming next...
The world is becoming predictable and she can anticipate routine happenings. As you start to fill her bath, she will get excited. Little games like Round And Round The Garden and Peek-A-Boo fill her with delight, as she anticipates the climax.

My one and only!
As the close relationship between you and your baby grows, she will show more and more preference for you, the main care-provider. Give her lots of hugs and cuddles and keep her close to you as you move around the house. She will also show attachments to other people who spend time with her, if they interact in a loving and sensitive way.

Different strokes for different folks (even babies)
Some babies are 'prickly' and others 'touchy-feely' - all of this is normal. It isn't important, as long as your baby is happy and communicative in every other way. Learn about your own baby and respond to her specific cues and behaviour... that's what makes you the best parents for your baby.
